Feather and Dreamcatcher Nails

I created this simple, yet beautiful, dreamcatcher and feather design using Lesly’s #31 stamping plate, and a combination of Born Pretty’s stamping polishes.

Step 1

As always, I started by applying my F.U.N Lacquer “Triple 5” base coat, followed by two coats of Rimmel London’s “Go Wild-Er-Ness”. I included this pretty pale lilac polish as the base colour, as it is quite sheer and I wanted it to stand out in the gradient – especially compared to the pigmented stamping polishes.

Step 2

Before starting the gradient, I applied Cuticula’s liquid latex all around my nails and waited for it to dry.

I swiped pastel pink, pastel blue, and the pale lilac to the sponge, creating different combinations and colour positioning for each of the nails so that the gradients wouldn’t look too similar.

I dabbed the sponge directly onto the nail, and the gradient was complete in just one coat due to using the stamping polishes. I highly recommend using stamping polishes for creating gradients as they blend well together and provide good opacity and full coverage. For my guide on how to create perfect gradients, click here.

Once the gradient was applied to all the nails, I sealed it in with my quick dry top coat and waited for it to dry before starting the stamping.

Step 3

Once the gradient was applied to all the nails, I sealed it in with my quick dry top coat and waited for it to dry. I then also applied a coat of F.U.N Lacquer’s “Diamond Dust” holographic top coat to all of the nails, to add some sparkle to the design. The holographic glitter was especially lovely when paired with the pastel colours, and added an almost mystical or magical element. I ensured that all the nails were fully dry before I moved onto the stamping.

Step 4

I used Born Pretty’s black stamping polish to stamp the feather pattern circled below to all nails, except the feature nail. For my beginners stamping guide, click here.

On the feature nails, I stamped the pretty dreamcatcher design circled below.

Next, I applied a thick layer of non-smear, glossy top coat and then the mani was complete. This is the finished result:
